because someone's physical appearance is the least interesting thing about them.
as a member of the human race, but especially as a woman, i feel the urge to appeal to others physically. obviously. who doesn't? but why is it SO important to us?
because society has told us that is where our worth lies. which is poo poo caca if you ask me.
what part of our physical appearance defines who we are as a human, as a soul? where does any of that make sense? it doesn't, does it?
so that's why i'm trying to break out of this stupid, backward, toxic, drunken thinking.
it's not easy. i don't like feeling ugly. i'd rather look in the mirror and enjoy my appearance.
but neutrality of the least important part of ourselves is what we should be striving for.
this body is where we dance in the rain, walk barefoot on soft grass, hug those we love, cry tears of joy and heartbreak, eat delicious food, and live.
why does it have to be acne-less, 100 pounds, with no body hair and the shape of an hourglass? that seems quite restricting, doesn't it?
that seems entirely miserable, too.
so join me on this journey of appreciating your body for what it can do for you, not just for what it looks like. we are beautiful. we are messy. we are human. embrace your humanity and live. go outside. sing badly. cry and cry and cry and relish in your ability to feel.
live brilliantly.

with all the love in my heart,
maddison
